PowerField Energy delivers, sells, and trades energy from PowerField’s solar parks and storage systems, ensuring a stable energy flow to the electricity grid.
PowerField proudly announces the commissioning of its 52 MWh energy storage system in Wanneperveen (the Netherlands). With this milestone, PowerField launches its new business unit, PowerField Energy, which takes the supply and sale of solar energy to the electricity grid under its own management. This marks a significant phase in the development of PowerField’s platform, which integrates the generation, storage and trading of solar energy.

“We want to optimise our energy flows as much as possible by combining generation, storage and the use of energy, and managing them ourselves. This allows us to respond more effectively to the balance of the electricity grid and developments in the electricity market.”
The Dutch government will introduce new regulations for energy storage systems starting 1st of January 2025 to encourage solar projects with integrated energy storage. Jean-Louis Bertholet commented: “We recognised the importance of energy storage and chose not to wait. We pushed forward with our battery projects and PowerField Energy to accelerate and optimise the integration of solar parks and storage systems into the Dutch electricity grid. Our project in Wanneperveen is an example of this. Here, we are already implementing solutions that the Dutch government will require starting next year.”
The 28 MWp solar park and the 52 MWh storage system together form the largest ‘co-location’ in the Netherlands, combining the generation and storage of renewable energy. The energy storage system was commissioned at the end of June 2024.
PowerField and grid operator Enexis have entered into a time-based contract, allowing PowerField flexible access to the electricity grid when transport capacity is available. During periods of insufficient grid capacity, the batteries store the generated energy. The grid capacity that is released can then be used by Enexis for other renewable energy projects.

PowerField Energy makes solar energy available to the European energy market. A significant amount of this renewable energy is supplied to PowerField’s subsidiary, PowerGo, to power EV charging points with clean energy. Additionally, PowerField Energy provides energy to big energy consumers. Companies can procure renewable electricity from PowerField Energy through Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
