What are Guarantees of Origin?

Within the European Union, we use the Guarantee of Origin system to enable the trade of green electricity. GoOs are official certificates that confirm electricity has been generated from renewable sources, such as solar energy. One GoO represents 1 megawatt hour (MWh) of green electricity.

The certificates are issued by the independent Dutch organization VertiCer. Each GoO includes information about how and when the electricity was produced, ensuring the energy you purchase is truly renewable.

Using GoOs can support your sustainability goals, improve your CO₂ footprint, help you move up the CO₂ Performance Ladder, and strengthen your corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy. It also contributes to the energy transition by increasing demand for renewable energy.

The Guarantees of Origin come directly from our solar parks, for example in the provinces of Groningen, Drenthe, Friesland, Overijssel or North Brabant. GoOs can be sourced from specific solar parks, possibly even from a project located near you.

Accelerating the energy transition

This initiative aligns with PowerField’s broader strategy to seamlessly integrate the production, storage and trade of solar energy. It also reflects the ongoing commitment to making renewable energy more accessible and accelerates the energy transition.
