The solar park is a valuable addition to PowerField’s portfolio and supports the company’s integrated approach to connecting solar energy production, storage and trading in a smart and efficient way. With projects located across the Netherlands, now including several in the province of North Brabant, PowerField is able to deliver green electricity more evenly across the grid. In doing so, PowerField aims to contribute to a green, reliable and future-proof energy supply in the Netherlands.

In May, around 60 students from the local secondary school Metameer Jenaplan, together with representatives from the municipality of Land van Cuijk, visited the newly commissioned Solar Park Boxmeer. The day was dedicated to sharing knowledge, education and the energy transition for future generations.

An educational day

PowerField employees explained the development, construction and management of the solar park. At the end of the visit, a quiz allowed students to test their knowledge on sustainable energy and learn what is involved in bringing a solar park to life. The students gained insights into how a solar park operates, how the energy market functions, the role of energy storage and how all these elements contribute to the Dutch energy transition.

Michiel Duijff, geography teacher at Metameer Jenaplan, said: “In the third year of geography, one of the key topics is the energy transition, including a section named ‘On the way to sustainable energy sources’. How amazing is it for students to see such a large-scale project up close? This is real-life learning, right in their community.”

“Educational visits like this, close to home, help young people better understand why a sustainable future matters.”

Paulien Keijzer, policy officer at the municipality of Land van Cuijk: “Just like in other municipalities, the generation of renewable electricity also needs a place in the municipality of Land van Cuijk. It’s an essential part of the energy transition. We believe it’s important for young people to learn more about this topic. That is why we brought Metameer and PowerField together. Educational visits like this, close to home, help young people better understand why a sustainable future matters. Together, we are building a greener Land van Cuijk.”

Jaco van Leeuwen, Project Development Manager at PowerField: “We believe it’s important to share our knowledge and involve young people in the reality behind renewable energy. By demonstrating how solar energy works and what’s involved, we hope to inspire a generation that actively contributes to a sustainable future. It was a pleasure to speak with the students and see how enthusiastic they were. We look back on a very positive day.”
